The global retraction of Tourism across all sectors in the past 18 months due to the devastating effects of the pandemic seems to be shifting. Given the gradual immunization of different parts of the world and the consequent relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions, the industry is finally glimpsing a more optimistic scenario. Although often timid, the growth is already palpable.
Business trips are the first indication: fairs, conferences and other international events, which had to adapt to the virtual model, are already starting to return to their original structure; for audiovisual professionals, for example, this is a latent reality. Leisure tourism follows the same trend.
According to a recent survey by the Ministry of Tourism in Brazil, the percentage of Brazilians intending to travel within the next six months has risen from 20% to 30% in one year, with a focus mainly on domestic travel, especially to cities in the South and Northeast regions. Similarly, according to data released by CBS Miami, the state of Florida attracted 31.7 million visitors in the second quarter of this year, a number very close to the same period in 2018 and 220% higher than in the second quarter of last year.
Without getting into the merits of the new trends in this market and ways of travelling, we can comfortably say that fresh winds are blowing through the industry.
